The Stay On The Path Workout

Good Morning, my friends. I hope everyone had a great week last week. No matter how great (or bad) of a week we might have had, sometimes it can be hard to keep on the path towards our goals. The post this week will talk about how to stay on that path once you’ve gotten some positive momentum and how to keep that momentum going, and it will include my workout schedule for the coming week. So, to kick off the new week on the positive, this is The Workout of the Week. This is The Stay On The Path Workout.

Staying on the Path

Whenever working on a goal, it can be hard to continue on the path for a number of reasons. We might not always get the results we want. Sometimes things just don’t go our way. Sometimes we might even feel like the whole world is lining up against us. Other times it can be hard to find the motivation or the reason to keep pushing for something.

Setbacks

Personally, I have had many setbacks in life. Many self-induced, many out of my realm of control.

As I have gotten older, I learned to set some standards for myself that have eliminated more of the self-induced ones. Not that I am perfect and don’t make mistakes, but having standards for myself grants me the ability to make better decisions than when I was younger when I didn’t really have the same set of standards.

I have learned that those things out of my control are usually lessons. We can learn from lessons or ignore them. Choosing to ignore them is not the right path. As I gain life experience, I try to learn from those lessons. Things will always happen in life that are out of our own control, but we can always control our attitude when they happen. Choosing to have a learning and growth attitude has helped me deal with setbacks that have been out of my own control.

Losing my father unexpectedly when I was young and immature was a setback I couldn’t control. It was hard to overcome. Going through that changed my whole life. It pushed me to take the worst thing that happened in my life, and do everything I could to try to make my life the best I can.

When The Path Gets Tough

What do you do when the path gets tough?

Trust me, it will get tough.

As Sly Stalone said in the movie Rocky Balboa – “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows…it will beat you to your knees and keep you there if you let it…”.

The key phrase in that quote is “if you let it”.

Know that it’s a choice whether to back down or step up in the tough times.

Choose to step up!

On To The Workout Schedule

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

On Mon, Weds, and Fri, I will be doing a Spin Bike workout video, like this one from GCN below. The Global Cycling Network is one of my go-to sources for spin bike workouts. Riding along with the videos pushes me to work harder than just staring at a wall spinning on my own. Their YouTube channel has tons and tons and tons of workouts and other great content! Plus, all the videos are FREE. Check them out!

Tuesday and Thursday

On Tuesday and Thursday, I will be doing my shadowboxing with weighted gloves interval training workout. Three rounds of Tabata intervals, doing punch and kick combos working at about 85% max intensity for 20-seconds, followed by the rest interval (about 20% max intensity) doing boxer shuffle and block moves for 10-seconds, repeating for 8 intervals. Take a 30-second to 1-minute break between each 8-interval Tabata set. Then I finish one Tabata interval with my heavy sandbag, doing the heavy sandbag workout routine.

Every Morning – Yoga and Meditation Practice

Every morning as part of my morning routine this week I will be doing a Yoga video like the one below from Yoga With Adriene and following that with 15-minutes of meditation practice. Yoga With Adriene has a fantastic YouTube channel with hours and hours of free videos and Adriene does an awesome job with them. Check out the Channel!

After a Yoga video, I will be spending about 15 minutes just sitting and trying to do some meditation.

Wrap It Up, Dude!

There you have it, my friends. Thank you so much for reading. A special thank you to the free content providers, Global Cycling Network and Yoga With Adriene for their awesome videos! If you have not checked them out, DO IT! Until next time, be the hero or heroine in your story!
