Good Morning my Friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did! More about that later. To kick off this week on the positive, this is The Workout of the Week, from GoodAttitudeFood.com. This is the “Choosing a Path” Workout.

WordCamp MSP 2019
I said it was an awesome weekend, and it was! A “YUGE” reason it was such a great weekend was that I attended Wordcamp MSP 2019 over the weekend! Such a fun and useful event! A “YUGE” thank you to all of the sponsors, speakers, organizers, and volunteers.
This was my second year attending. Both years I am walking away better than what I was going in! Great for meeting people. Great for learning new things. Fun times! Again, THANK YOU to everyone involved in setting up this cool, fun, and informative event.

#WCMSP2019
On to the Path…
I think I might be at one of those moments that one dude – “Bobby Frost” wrote about – something about yellow woods and a couple of different ways to go…
“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, … ”
The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost.
I am kidding above; making light of this poem, which has really been with me most of my life.
The Road Not Taken is probably the first poem in school that spoke to me when I read it. I was like – “I know what this dude was thinking when he wrote this poem.” That was probably in 4th grade… Mrs. Wilkening’s class, I bet. 🙂
Even then, I knew about “what woulda happened if I woulda done this instead?”.
There have been many times in my life when faced with a decision where I have come back to Frost’s words.
Two Roads … Uh, like 3, 4, or maybe a couple more…
I find myself in one of those times right now.
What are my next goals? Which path should I choose?
Should I study coding? Do I study nutrition? Do I skip the books for a while and try to start working with clients as a PT? If I do that, do I work in a gym or somewhere else? Where else could I work as an ACE PT? If I work at a gym can I keep GoodAttitudeFood.com rolling? Do I want to work for someone else in a gym or do I want to do my own thing – The GoodAttitudeFood Training Facility! (or something like that…)
This dude (me) DEFINITELY has some thinking to do. Looking down at least three possible paths. Each path has some obstacles. Each path has a great goal at the end. Aaand, I just don’t know which path to take right now.
If I do take one, will I come back to the others?
…”Yet knowing how way leads on to way…”

What Would the Hero Do?
Make a choice and go after it.
Make a decision without fear.
Making a decision in fear will not end in the best result.
Ask yourself, “if this was a story about a hero of the past, what would that person do?”.
Face the F.E.A.R.s
F.E.A.R.
- F – False
- E – Evidence
- A – Appearing
- R – Real
Most of the stuff we are afraid of is stuff we make up in our mind that doesn’t really exist. It’s like a thing our mind does to help us avoid risks. We think of everything that could go wrong. We activate the “lizard-brain”, and that lizard brain, deep up in there, is scared of almost EVERYTHING… ignore it!
There are just as many things that could go right, as there are that could go wrong.
No Fear
If you had no fear, what decision would you make?
That’s probably the right choice.
Where is Your Cheese?

As I learned in my lunchtime reading a few weeks back – Who Moved My Cheese – (that I found in the throw-away area at work), sometimes you need to find some new cheese.
In other words, know what your goals are. Find out how, and where, you can best pursue those goals. Don’t be afraid to move on when you need to. You are in control of you.
Don’t hold on to moldy cheese just because the cheese is there! There is plenty of cheese in the world. Sometimes it makes sense to go find new cheese and sometimes it’s ok to be content with your supply, just don’t be content forever because cheese does age with time.
Where to Find Advice?
So… being an online college student who basically had to teach himself everything from College Algebra and Advanced Business Statistics, to Business Law, and Supply Chain Forecasting, along with every other college course… I learned early on that YouTube is a VAST resource. As much as I am a grad of NAU, I am a grad of “YouTube University”.
YouTube has some great advice videos that deal with this subject. Here are some helpful videos I found that might help anyone else (and ME!) in a situation where they need to make a decision in their life.
Andrew Luck
I wrote most of this post before I learned about Andrew Luck announcing his retirement from the Indianapolis Colts, where he was the star Quarterback and thought to be in the prime of his NFL career. 29 years old, drafted to replace one of the greatest NFL QBs ever to play – Peyton Manning – Luck’s decision is a shocking one to me.
After listening to him explain why though, he is making the right decision.
He is doing it without fear.
We ALL Have to Make Tough Choices
We all need to make tough decisions in our lives. If you are faced with a tough one, like me, maybe some of the stuff above could help.
What I learned writing this post:
- Don’t make a decision based on your fears
- Don’t make a decision on what’s right for someone else
- Make a decision off of what feels right
- Then go in that direction with everything
Those are my thoughts for the week on this subject. I have some tough choices to make! Which road is yet to be seen.
The Food – (Easy) Pollo Asado and Veggies – Easy Button Meal!
This is another of what I call an Easy Button Meal. These pre-marinated Pollo Asado from Trader Joes are super-good! You just plop the pre-marinated chicken in the crockpot, or on the grill, or in the oven, and add some veggies, and you got a meal, or three.
The Rest of the Ingredients
- Mushrooms – I use my salad spinner to wash and then dry them. Works awesome!
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Tomatoes
- Onion
- S & P to taste.
The Prep
- Wash all veggies
- Mince half an onion
- Half the tomatoes
- Cut the carrots and potatoes up
- Put all that in the crockpot with the Pollo Asado
- I cooked mine for about four hours on the 4-hour setting
Then plate and enjoy!

The Music
This week I am chillin’ to some “Summer LoFi Beats” with this great playlist/video from the College Music YouTube Channel. They stream LoFi beat 24/7! Check them out! Find the Flow. Enjoy the beats!
The Workout
7K Steps (or more), Five days, Any Way I can get ’em
I will be getting in at least 7,000 steps five days this week. 7K any way.
I like to park on the far side of the lot when I go to work or shop. Go for an evening stroll. Get up from the desk and walk “a lap” around the office during the workday a few times. All of it counts.
Get those steps!
Switching Yoga and Tai Chi
I am switching off between DDPY yoga and Tai Chi videos. Mon, Wed, Fri – Yoga. Tues, Thurs, Sat – Tai Chi.
DDPY – I cannot find the video I had been doing but I pretty much got the routine down.
Tai Chi – Jake Mace videos are pretty decent. Master Wong’s are ok too. SLO-MO Kung Fu! Moving Mediation. Harness your Chi! 🙂
Freestyle Shadow Boxing with gloves (when my new pair comes)
Speed up that Slo-Mo Kung Fu with some freestyle intervals and weighted gloves! Freestyle, have some fun with it! I throw in some high knees, spinning backhands, and some kick combos too. It’s all about moving and having some fun, and getting a little sweat on of course!
I ordered a new pair of weighted gloves because my Meisters both now have holes in them. They are leaving little black balls the size of sand all over the place when I punch with them. After getting about 15 months out of the Meisters, at about $30, they were a good value. A new pair of gloves on the way. When they come in I will be working in some freestyle intervals.
15 X 30×30 – Flow intervals – 30 seconds hard, 30 seconds easy.
Hard Interval – 85% max exertion, or about an 8 on a 1-10 scale, for 30 seconds – Freestyle shadow boxing type moves.
Easy Interval – 60% max exertion, about a 5 or 6 on 1-10 scale, boxer shuffle with head ducks and defensive type moves, for 30 seconds
Then repeat.
I use the interval timer app on my phone. It works great for these workouts!
AM or PM bike rides
I will be riding my bike at least three days this week. Shooting for Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday or Sunday, as time allows. I think I will be going back down Lyndale to the River Bottoms MTB trails at least once this week.
Gotta go find that big hill again.
This time I am gonna try to climb it all the way.
Bonus: Disc Golf
I will be working in a few practice rounds of disc golf this week too. All the steps count towards the 7k-steps-a-day goals! BONUS!
Have an awesome week
