I have a basic philosophy about life. I want to live a rich life. When I say a rich life I do not mean a life filled with money, material possessions, or pursuing those things and trying to find happiness in them. I mean a life that is rich, happy, rewarding, and meaningful. I believe that a good attitude, mixed with good food and good exercise, can make a good life. A rich life. I hope to inspire people to pursue their passions, whatever they are.
I will admit, this is my first ever blog. I am just winging it right now. I am trying to pursue a dream and passion of my own. One of my biggest passions is positive motivation and personal development. I have been studying motivation and personal development for years. This is where the attitude part comes in.
Attitude is what makes our lives what they are. The best part about that is attitude is something we can always control. We can control our attitude with our thoughts. Positive thoughts create positive attitudes and positive attitudes create great lives. I believe that people have the ability to manifest things in their life through their attitude and thoughts. There is a saying that says “that which we focus our energy on is what we attract”. I believe that to be true so I try to spend my life attracting positivity. I hope to use this site as a tool to inspire people to do the same.
Life can be hard. Life can be beat you down.
One of my favorite movie characters is Rocky Balboa.
My favorite Rocky movie is not one of the five original movies in the series. Those are all great movies, but Rocky Balboa is my favorite. This is the movie made several years after Rocky V. Rocky is old, Adrian has passed away, their son has grown up, Pauly is still around and still working at the meat plant. Rocky decides that even though he is an old man, he wants to fight again. Rocky thinks he has one last fight in him. One that he has to get out. He spends the length of the story pursuing and then achieving that goal. He overcomes many obstacles in the process of just getting to the boxing match. It is a great story of will, determination, and perseverance. Sly has a line in that movie that always stands out to me … “life will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” Life can throw a lot at us. We have be prepared to take the hits. I think having a good attitude prepares us for all those surprise left hooks. Even if we don’t see them coming, we can be strong and take those challenges on by turning them into opportunities to grow.
Food is another great passion of mine. I have been cooking for as long as I can remember. I love to grill and smoke meat. I enjoy cooking soups, braising meat, smoking ribs, finding new fruit, vegetable, and protein pairings. I couldn’t live a life without eggs and bacon, or breakfast sausage. Despite what some people used to teach eggs are an extremely healthy food for the human diet. I try very hard to eat with an 80/20 or 90/10 attitude. Being that most of the time I eat very nutritious food, but every once in a while I allow myself to indulge in other things that might not be so healthy.
I started taking photos of my food several years ago and have pursued that hobby throughout my life. Food has become like an art for me. To me, food is more than just what we shove in our faces at meal time. Food is the nourishment of life. I think it’s fun to capture my creations with cool pictures.
I do not have any formal culinary training. I learned from watching my mom as a kid, a cooking class I took in high school, a nutrition class in college, and just experimenting in my own kitchen. I enjoy finding recipes and then adding my personal touch to them. I very rarely make the same meal twice.
At goodattitudefood.com the goal is to have some fun, share some food, and help people find a motivating positive attitude to pursue their greatness in life.
