Good Morning my friends! I hope everyone had a great week and a better weekend! To kick off the new week on the positive, this is The Workout of the Week from GoodAttitudeFood.com. This is the Walking in the Rain Workout.
The post this week will include some of my random thoughts while walking in the woods in the rain yesterday, a great chill mix of “autumnal tunes”, and my weekly workout goals. I am skipping The Food section this week because I cannot think of anything to make today…
Rainy Weather
It was a rainy week in the Minneapolis area. The weather was chilly, wet, and gloomy. It had me feeling a bit down.
It also cut into my plan to do bike sprints. And be outside as much as I would like to be.
Feeling way too cooped up in my apartment, I made the best of it and got out for walks when I could. I did pretty well timing my walks between rain intervals and didn’t get too wet.
Disc in the Rain (drizzle)

Saturday was a rainy day, but it was mostly a drizzle than a hard solid rain. I sucked it up and went disc golfing at Alimagnet Park. There was one other group on the course but other than them I had the park to myself. I spent the time listening to a book – The Institute by Stephen King #Audible. I didn’t keep score. The conditions made throwing rough, but overall it was a fun round. It just felt good to be outside!

After the round I decided to check out some of the trails that go around Alimaget Lake. So glad I did. Walking in the woods in the rain is actually really cool.
Strolling with some of those words from that “Bobby Frost” guy on my mind again. (I wrote about not too long ago) Still working on some decisions and choosing which path to take…
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood…
The Road I Chose
During the walk, I came upon such a split in the path. I pondered which to take, peering down to where each path bent out of sight. In the end, I picked the one that hugged the lake more.
That path had some really cool stuff. I walked up on a single deer, and then a bit further up, a group of about six deer. One BIG mama and her not so little babies (I think). I didn’t see a buck with them. I tried to get some pictures but didn’t want to spook them. I was about 30 feet away from where they were all bedded down. An elderly gentleman was also out walking, going the opposite way on the path. I pointed the deer out to him. We had a quick few seconds before they bolted. We both shared a moment of awe, neither of us having been that close to that many deer before. The guy and I shared a few words, wished each other well, and went on to find more wonders!

Even in the Rain, Make the best of it.
I never would have seen those deer, or shared that cool moment with the older gent, if I had been sitting in my apartment feeling down about the rain.
There is a good life lesson in that.
Even when things look crappy there is awesome to be found.
Maybe that’s even when you can find the most awesome.
When things look bad, opportunities can be found if we look for them.
… and that’s about all my “wanna-be- philosophy” for the day! π

The Workout
7K-Steps-a-Day: 4 days or more
Since counting my miles for the last three weeks as part of the 7k-step goals, I walked 27.79 miles in week one, 28.63 miles in week two, and 25.85 miles this week. For a total of 82.27 miles on my way to walking 1,000 miles.
I got 44,708 steps this past week!

All the steps count. I am trying to get 7,000 steps at least four days this week. Disc golf counts. Shopping counts – on Wednesday this week I walked around Kohls and Target to get steps – I didn’t even buy anything at either place! I like to park at the far end of the lot when I go someplace, those steps count. 7K-Anyway you can get them; get those steps!
Shadow Boxing Intervals w/weighted gloves.
Make sure to warm up! I do the warm-up from FightTips before workouts and before disc golfing.
I am using my interval timer and my title boxing weighted gloves.
Intervals = 24 X 20×10. Tabatas my dudes and dudettes! FIIT principles! Flow intervals = exertion of 8 out of 10 on the 20 seconds – punch combos, flow and move at about a 5 out of 10 for the 10-seconds, defensive moves, and repeat.
Yoga
YouTube has a bunch of Yoga. Sean Vigue is one of my go-to sources. He has some good videos and a funny dude. Here is one of his that I will be doing this week. Check out Sean Vigue’s YouTube for more of his great videos!
