The Orange-Tongued Butter Coffee Recipe

Koffee Kult – Columbian Huila 

Here is the Orange-Tongued Butter Coffee Recipe:


  1. Coffee – about 2 1/2 cups of brewed hot coffee

    I am brewing Koffee Kult Columbian Huila this week.

  2. Add a few cranks of Pink Himalayan Salt

    Pink Himalayan Salt adds a bunch of natural minerals that are great for maintaining health

  3. Organic Stevia – About 1 teaspoon (or to taste)

    Stevia is a powerful natural sweetener that does not have a caloric effect on the body. Be careful using it; Stevia is said to be about 300 times sweeter than table sugar.

  4. Brain Octane Oil – About 1/2 a tablespoon 

    Brain Octane Oil is a multi chain triglyceride. It has no taste. It mixes into the coffee and it is said to bind with the caffiene, allowing for a slow steady release of caffiene, instead of a crazy spike, followed by a big crash.

  5. Organic Ghee – 4th & Heart Madagascar Vanilla Bean Ghee – about 1 tablespoon 

    This Ghee is organic, lactose free, and comes from Grass-fed sources. The Vanilla bean is awesomely good!

  6. Collagen Peptides – 1 scoop 

    Collagen is really the only “supplement” I take. Collagen is a protein in the body that makes most connective tissues. Using it promotes bone and joint health. I have read it is good for your hair and nails. Some think it can be used to stop signs of aging too.

  7. Turmeric – About 1 to 2 teaspoons 

    Turmeric is a great anti-inflamatory for the body. I have been experimenting with it in my coffee. It adds a little different flavor, but I think it’s ok. The biggest thing to watch out for is that it will turn your tongue a little orange! 🙂

I have been drinking butter coffee now for the better part of three months. This experiment has helped me achieve my personal weight loss BHAG – losing over 90lbs. I set the goal almost three years ago. The first 70lbs were not that difficult to lose once I got going. The last 20lbs were a challange. In order to do this I have had to change tactics. I had to revamp my entire eating plan. I had been eating small meals about six times a day. That worked for a while and got me to lose about 70lbs. After a while though, my progress stopped. I was eating healthier food, but still a lot of processed food. I was still eating sugar, white flour, breads, and other foods that come from factories. I adopted a time phased eating schedule and use butter coffee as a morning meal replacement. I eat with a daily time window between 11:30AM and about 8:00PM. Over the last year I have also been focusing more on nutrient dense, whole, close to natural food sources. Stuff that comes from farms and fields more than factories. This has made a HUGE difference in my life and my health. After three months of drinking butter coffee, working out daily, and eating mostly clean foods, I hit my weightloss BHAG. I did it by setting a lot of small goals too, LPSAGs (little puny specifically aligned goals). Learning about food and nutrition, trying new diet things, and being open to new ideas has also helped change my health. Thanks for reading!   1. My initial post had an error on the amount of turmeric. You can try two tablespoons of turmeric, but it might not taste great. I meant 1 to 2 TEASPOONS per 2 1/2 cups of coffee. Post has been updated accordingly but anyone who got the initial e-mail post, sorry about the editing error!
